Old Idaho Penitentiary & Twin Falls

05/23
Good morning!
Today, we stumbled upon the Old State Penitentiary in historic downtown Boise, ID. Built in 1870, the Pen was used to house forgers, thieves, murderers, and other criminals. The Penitentiary ran for 103 years and on the last year of its operation inmates burned 2 of the 5 cell houses down in a midnight riot. We had the opportunity to tour the entire complex and see how and where the inmates lived. In the maximum security house (death row), they had the Finishing Post which was the place where they executed prisoners by hanging them.... Yuck.  Overall, it was very interesting and fun to explore this place.
After living the life of an inmate we decided we liked being outside the bars better. So, it was off to Twin Falls, Idaho we went which is just 120 miles east of Boise.  We visited and explored the Shoshone Falls, Twin Falls, Dierkes Lake Park, Perrine Bridge, Evel Knievel Jump Site, and the Niagara of the West. At the Niagara Falls we hiked to Evel Knievels ramp (which is a pile of dirt, basically), went to a lake but decided not to go in after seeing lots of poop around the area, and saw a rainbow over the falls. We had a blast!
Off to Burley, Idaho for a good nights rest.

Xoxo

P.S. When staying at a Walmart for the night you may run into stray animals like cats. Therefore one should go inside, buy cat food, then feed the babies. :)
