DIY Basement Storage

As you can see in the images below my mothers basement is a disaster. I can't remember a time when it was organized, ever. Between Mike's and my household belongings, my brothers 'stuff', my mom and dads memories and whatever else you can find down there - it needs help.

Today's DIY - basement storage.

We took the general idea of what was already in place but put it on steroids (as Mike likes to call it).

BEFORE STEROIDS:
^A couple of shelves and crates. (lots of mess)
^Lots of storage containers- some label, others... not so much.

AFTER STEROIDS:
Neat shelves that will never fall apart. Four levels of perfection - 16 feet long by at least 2 feet in depth.
Crates waiting for those pull out box containers with nice organized labels.
Shelves starting to be put to use!!!

More DIY basement work to come....

  1. This is exactly how I plan on putting up shelves in our basement. Few questions:
How far apart are the vertical posts? Like in the last picture, how far is that beam in the middle from the one to the left?
What is the spacing between levels? Like how far is it from the floor to the first level.

    Thanks!
