Austin, Texas

4/25
Laundry morning in Bastrop, Texas. It felt like it took forever. One interesting thing about Bastrop is that they had a fire a couple years back and all of the trees for miles are burnt to a crisp and stripped raw. Pretty scary to witness the devastation the town must have faced.
With laundry hot off the press and packed away it was off to the big city of Austin. We planned a whole day for their Town Lake Hike and Bike trail. The trail is inspiring and confusing with numerous options to make it longer or shorter depending on what you'd prefer. You would also never guess that it wasn't the weekend because the trails are packed with locals running, biking, and taking in the scenery all day.
On the trail there is Barton Springs Pool which is a 1,000 foot long natural limestone pool, fed by several underground springs where you can fish or swim. It was too cold to go swimming, but looked really fun. There is also a Nature and Science Center with animals that they have rescued, nature paths and a DINO PARK!! (Yes, we did uncover some fossils and act like we were three again. It was amazing.) Plus the trail offers much more for all ages to do, dogs too!
After many hours of walking around like we belonged there it was off towards Dallas we went. We are going to spend the night in Waco then check out Fort Worth before spending the weekend with the Millers.
Xoxo

P.S. It must be an Austin thing to have a broken windshield because every other car had one...weird.
