Montreal, Canada

06/10

Oh Montreal, Montreal... How I wish I remembered more French from high school....
The main difference from Ottawa and Toronto compared to Montreal is the amount of French that is used. It was easy to find our way around our first two city experiences in Canada but right when we hit the border crossing into Quebec every direction and sign turned a different language. We did manage all right but it definetly took a lot longer to find and get where we were going.
The key places we went to in Montreal was Mont Royal and Old Montreal. Mont Royal is a 764 foot high hill that you can drive up or walk up. We chose to do both. We drove to the top walked around then ventured down the stairs to get the whole experience... The view during the day is beautiful and the view at night must be spectacular.
When we were all done taking in the city from up top and catching our breath from the climb we decided to explore the city below - Old Montreal.
It definetly took us twice as long to find but when we knew we had to be close, we took our bikes off the back and hit the streets like the locals.
Old (vieux) Montreal holds museums, art galleries, shops, restaurants and so much more. There are cobblestone streets and old Victorian buildings, statues within waterfall displays, and the area is filled with many vibrant people from all over the world. A day in Montreal would not be complete without seeing Vieux-Montreal.
After our exploring felt complete and the day was coming to an end.... We are so close to home... What to do next now....
Until next time!!
Xoxo
