Lunch in Michigan

06/01
Wow, it's June already. Does time fly by or what?
With our change of plans we were cutting out a couple states. But that was not going to stop us from driving in them....we were soooo close! So we called up Erik and asked if he wanted to do lunch in Michigan and off we went.
The drive was only an hour and twenty minutes through Indiana and into Michigan. We stopped at a diner called Nancy's on Whitaker and Mechanic street (which if you are from North Conway, NH the names will sound familiar.) and listened to live music while munching on our burgers.
When all the food was gone we took off back to Illinois to drop Erik off in Chicago and it was off on our changed adventure we went.
The direction we are going runs along the Old Route 66. So there are plenty of stops along the way that offer historic looks into the route and on a road trip that is pivotal. We saw the Gemini Giant in Wilmington, Illinois and the town of Pontiac has wall paintings all over the town square showing off Route 66. Later in the night when we were rocking on their swinging bridge the weather decided to take a turn for the worse and the rain started to pour. So we called it a night and went to find a Walmart and some eats.
The Heat and Pacers game six was on so we went to Buffalo Wild Wings and set our mouths on fire. Then called it a night in Springfield, Illinois.
I think we will have a chat with Lincoln at his house tomorrow.

Xoxo

Nancy's for lunch!! The place was hoppin' with live music and tons of people. The food was good too!

The Gemini Giant on old Route 66!

Amazing sidewalk drawing!

Swinging bridge in Pontiac, Il. There is more then just one on their river that was very flooded when we visited.

Lounging in the rain flooded park.
