Meeteetse & Thermopolis

05/26

Southeast of Cody (where we crashed for the night) is one of the oldest settlements in Central Wyoming and has not changed much since it became a town over 125 years ago. The Greybull River runs through the town and you can still find wooden boardwalks and hitching posts for Cowboys' horses along the main road. This was our first stop along our Wyoming journey.
It was a beautiful day out, the sun blaring and the heat increasing...so we did what most people would do, go for a swim. Unlike most people though we went for a dip in the worlds largest hot spring in Thermopolis, Wyoming. If you've ever been to a hot spring you can smell that sulphur is the greatest component in the mineral water. But how many people can say they swam in one?
The quant Thermopolis town has parks, a dinosaur center, board walks, and red rock canyons. Once all is said and done (which we did most of the things the town has to offer) it was off to our next stop for the night, in Nebraska.

Xoxo

Fun Fact: Aviator Amelia Earhart was having a cabin built in Meeteetse along the river but they stopped construction in 1937 when she disappeared on her around the world flight.

The view into the quant Thermopolis.

This picture is from US-20 which winds through Wind River Canyon. The canyon is known in Wyoming as one of the most memorable drives in the state. It is a 2500 foot deep canyon with the highway on one side of the river and the railroad on the other side.
