Savannah, GA <3

04/13
I love Savanna, Ga. From the Spanish Moss covered trees and stone roads, to the old historic homes and City Market. It is one of those cities where we didn't want to leave.
The town was founded in 1733 and the history of it just doesn't seem to end. We learned so much within the nine hours we were there (the trolley tour we took helped) that our brains are overflowing!
To start off our day we went to Chippewa Square, which is the famous site for Forrest Gump's bus bench scene. Little did we know that there really was never a bench there, the directors placed a bench there because they thought it was the perfect spot for that scene. Then we took a tour of River Street which is lined by restaurants, a statue of a girl waving, Florence Martus, who waved for approximately 44 years at every ship that entered the Harbor in hopes her boyfriend would be on it, Congress Street which is the 2nd largest St. Patty's Day celebration which quadruples the town population, and much much more.
Prom was happening Saturday night (lots of couples walking in Prom outfits), there were numerous weddings we saw happening, an adorable farmers market we wished we could buy stuff from (no fridge) and Mike's favorite part was a Walk-Thru McDonalds. They fought with the town for years to get a Drive-Thru and finally settled on a walk up window. Of course we had to go through it....it's the only one in the country...
To end our day we enjoyed the live music they were having in City Market and then went to find a bed at the Savannah Walmart.
Xoxoxo
