No parking lots.

04/02
Off we went to Washington, D.C. and that statement sounds a lot easier then it actually was...
To start off our day in a positive way as we were leaving the campground we saw at least fifteen deer just wondering around the campgrounds. It seemed really nice and peaceful but I'm sure Mike and I look just like them when we are driving in a city - Deer in headlights.
And that statement is definitely how we were when we couldn't find parking for any metros we visited and then ended up in the wrong neighborhood... Come to find out when we had given up looking and driving in circles (two hours later) and were headed back to the campground to start over we were only minutes away from the Capitol and found parking in a residential neighborhood for no cost. Seems to good to be true, but this time it wasn't.
Free anything is fine with us so that is what we did - Anything and everything we could see that was free. The only money we ended up spending was when we were on our way to visit the Pres and Mike had to try a hotdog from a street cart. Unfortunately they aren't like your delicious gas station hot dogs, but it was decent enough to finish.
After our hotdog excitement we went to see the Presidents house and let me tell you, never use the bathrooms that are right outside his front gate... They are gross!! As I was thinking about it in my head in the bathroom another lady using the facilities stated, "kind of sad that not even a quarter of a mile away from the presidents house.. the restrooms he wants us to use.. the toilets don't even flush. Pathetic."
To complete our day and ten miles of walking later, we drove to Richmond, VA and slept next to an RV in there Walmart parking lot. Needless to say we were exhausted and fell right to sleep.
Xoxoxo
