Chicago

05/31
The Windy City... One could spend many days just exploring and roaming around the big city and it definitely helps if you have any idea what you are doing or where you are going. Luckily we had an amazing tour guide to show us around, Erik.
The day started off on Navy Pier where there are numerous activities that tourists and locals come together to enjoy and to just take in the beauty of Lake Michigan. Then it was off to The Cloud Gate (aka the bean) which is located in the heart of Chicago at Millenium Park. Once we were done taking pictures of ourselves in the bean it was off to the sky deck.
The Sears/Willis tower looks like a giant compared to everything around it (details below) which means the sky deck is incredibly high. You take this fast, rickety elevator to the 103 floor and walk around taking in the views. It's absolutly beautiful. When you have finally gotten over the shakiness from the height and elevator, they hit your fear again with an option to walk on glass.... Over nothing... Scary... Yes!!! But, even being wicked afraid of heights, you just have to do it. Even if that means wearing sunglasses and closing your eyes while your significant other guides you over it for the picture. Which never happened............ ;-)
Anywho, when all was said and the ground was kissed it was off to lunch we went. Of course we needed to try out a local yummy Chicago restaurant which ended up being Wilde's Bar and Restaurant. Then we walked all over, took a Chicago train (we looked incredibly foreign when we had no idea how to get through the gates), and hung out near Lake Michigan. To complete our Chicago day we headed to Erik's place and hung out on his roof deck with views all around the city. Though when you don't live in a city normally, it sounds very strange to be asked if to want to hang out on a roof.... But it was an amazing end to an amazing day.

Chicago Sky Deck:
